Message from Afghanistan's Health Minister on World Polio Day

Press Releases

Happy on World Polio Day! This day marks a significant global health milestone intended to increase public awareness on the ongoing efforts to eradicate polio. Now, the only countries where the poliovirus still exists are Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The World Polio Day serves as a reminder of the progress made in fighting this devastating disease and the need for continued efforts to ensure a polio-free world.

Though this year six polio cases have been reported in the country, but compared to the past few years, the number of polio cases have decreased significantly. I thank the frontline workers of the polio eradication program of Afghanistan for their hard work and assure the people of Afghanistan that we are committed to fully eradicate polio from the country.

I also want to express my gratitude to the international partners for their continued support of Afghanistan's efforts to eradicate polio.
